The kickstarter-founded Lomography Petzval lens is something out of the ordinary. With the support from over 3000 bankers, it became one of the most successful Kickstarter projects ever in only 30 days.
The lens is, as lomography says: A reinvation of the original Petzval design from 1840. It’s made in Russia by Zenit out of solid brass and high quality glass. You can choose between Nikon or Canon mount, but with an adapter, you can also use it on many other cameras. It comes in a nice box with a leather bag, and a interchangable metal waterhouse aperture set, that goes in to a slot on the top of the lens. At maximum aperture of f/2.2, it has the ability to produce some nice dreamy effects. The swirly out of focus rendering is truly amazing.
